FIRE AND ARSON INVESTIGATION: BASIC PERSPECTIVES AND INVESTIGATIVE MODELS
May 12-13, 2011
A two-day overview program for personnel interested in gaining a background on basic fire investigation. Seminar will cover various phases of the topic and should be especially valuable for persons new to the field who desire to gain a knowledge of the essential tools and techniques used in the investigating of fire and arson. Topics include: (1) ways to recognize and collect fire scene evidence; (2) some causes of fire due to natural and accidental factors; (3) need for canvassing for witnesses in fire cases; (4) problems of proving motive in fire cases; (5) methods of interviewing for arson cases; (6) fatal fire investigation; (7) ways to prepare for court appearance; and (8) importance of investigator-prosecutor relationship for a successful proving of arson. Program will be conducted May 12-13, 2011 at the York County Fire Academy, 330 Emig Road in York, Pennsylvania. Class will be in session 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each program day.
