FIRE AND ARSON INVESTIGATION:
BASIC PERSPECTIVES AND INVESTIGATIVE MODELS
March 15-16, 2012
A two-day overview
program for personnel interested in gaining a background on basic fire investigation.
Seminar will cover various phases of the topic and should be especially valuable
for persons new to the field who desire to gain a knowledge of the essential tools
and techniques used in the investigating of fire and arson. Topics include: (1) ways
to recognize and collect fire scene evidence; (2) some causes of fire due to natural
and accidental factors; (3) need for canvassing for witnesses in fire cases; (4)
problems of proving motive in fire cases; (5) methods of interviewing for arson cases;
(6) fatal fire investigation; (7) ways to prepare for court appearance; and (8) importance
of investigator-prosecutor relationship for a successful proving of arson.

Program will be conducted March 15-16, 2012, at the Lancaster Police 15th Street
Public Safety Training Center, 916 15th Street,
Training Room A, Lancaster, South
Carolina. Class will be in session 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each program day.
FEE:
$295 per person.
